Boulder, Colo., officials expected to approve corporate economic incentives

Boulder is considered a progressive city, but its economic-development policies have been behind the curve -- at least until now.

The Boulder City Council is expected today to pass an ordinance that earmarks $850,000 for tax rebates and other business incentives, which would make Boulder the last major Front Range city to offer corporate economic-incentive packages.

The ordinance is aimed at helping Boulder officials convince companies to relocate there and retain firms already in town, said Liz Hanson, the city's business liaison.
